Shaping your home with clarity, creativity and confidence

With extensive experience in Conservation Areas, the Green Belt and other complex planning contexts, I shape proposals that respond sensitively to their setting while unlocking the full potential of your home.

I design from the inside out and outside in, starting with how you live and the space you need, so layouts feel natural, practical and well resolved. I don’t work to a fixed architectural style. Whether the right answer is a sensitive period addition, a confident contemporary contrast, or a whole new look that improves curb appeal, the aim is always good design that feels balanced and right for your home, guided by a strong understanding of construction and proportion.

Design Development

Design development is a collaborative process, shaped around your involvement and time, where layouts, proportions and form are refined into a clear architectural response to your home, site and planning context

I use a mix of hand-drawn sketches, 3D modelling and digital studies to explore and test ideas, with AI-assisted tools used selectively where helpful.

Layouts are always drawn with furniture, storage and everyday family life in mind, so spaces work properly in use for you as a family. Careful attention is given to how the home works as a whole, with light, flow and circulation carefully considered to create a natural balance between generous shared spaces and quieter, more private areas.

Spaces are designed to work comfortably and efficiently, rather than adding space or extensions for their own sake, while recognising where generous space, such as a welcoming hall, genuinely adds value. All ideas are tested for buildability as well as appearance.

Planning Submission

Once the design direction is agreed, I prepare and submit the planning application on your behalf.

I have strong experience navigating local planning policy, including complex projects involving listed buildings, Conservation Areas and the Green Belt, with an excellent track record of securing planning approval.

This stage typically includes developed plans and elevations, massing and roof studies, indicative material palette, planning analysis, budget awareness and phasing advice.

All elements are clearly set out in your fee proposal so the service is tailored to your project.

Next Steps

I liaise directly with planning officers throughout the process, guiding proposals carefully towards approval.

Once planning permission is secured, I advise on the next steps and, depending on the project, either hand over to a trusted network of architects, contractors and consultants or continue through detailed design and construction.

Beyond planning, I draw on a small, trusted team of architects and technicians to support the technical stages.

The Principal Designer appointment remains with me, with all work coordinated and reviewed to ensure continuity, clarity of responsibility and design quality, supporting a smooth journey from design through to delivery.
